Hands Crop Circle - Installation in Central Park by Mirena Rhee

Fresh Crop Circle discovered in Central Park!

Mysterious Hands Artifacts are behind the mystery, scientists argue either aliens or unknown ancient hand has a hand in it. UFO might be involved or someone from NYC with enough hands at hand, all in all 36.

The Hands Got Wet however..

The Hands Caught the Dew from the Park!

I know my life is crazy - spent the evening draping them around and drying the hands..

One New York by Mirena Rhee

#OneNewYork One New York is a series of installations and performances with Giant Hands by American Artist Mirena Rhee on Times Square in New York City during the Great Covid Pandemic.

In the hand is encoded our civilization, the first art ever was on a wall of a cave, a hand print.

Central Park during Lockdown - Nature is my Solace and my Master and Teacher in Art by Mirena Rhee

I find great solace in nature where every twig and every leaf and every color has a purpose and beauty and art in it. The entire wealth of all civilization can't make a leaf from scratch.

Walking around Central Park in New York City during coronavirus lockdown and scouting locations for next series of Giant Hands Installations.. previously I had only 12 hands, now I have 36.

Hands and Solids Drawing - My latest old Masters drawing using dip pen and ink. A hands and solids adventure into the mind. Using my own old Masters technique of drawing by Mirena Rhee

Hands and Solids

30 x 30 inches, pen and ink on hot pressed board, 2020.

Download high resolution image here: https://bit.ly/handssolids

My latest old Masters drawing using dip pen and ink. A hands and solids adventure into the mind. Using my own old Masters technique of drawing with subtle brown and red inks.

The third dimension or the dimensions are spilling on the one side of the drawing.

Peeling the hands is like peeling an orange towards an unknown destination

A Hands and Solids garden, when I draw a feel more like a Sherlock Holmes rather than Michelangelo, I'm an investigator.

It's not really as much about the drawing but about the disegno or the design and the line. I have to admit I'm not much of a colorist.

Why I Draw

Most people who work today,

most artists,

especially people who draw with pen and ink,

draw stuff.

Either representational or some doodles

or some comic book stuff, or manga, which is more close to illustration. So most of painting today is either doodles, or illustrations. or of course, tutorials, everybody does tutorials. The difference between myself and those people is that I draw ideas of the mind.

I make maps of my synapses.

These ideas draw on a body of work which has been coming for a long time, for many years, and will go on for many years. So, it is a stream of ideas. A stream of developing visuals.

So, the difference, again between myself and everybody else that draws is that I draw ideas, and I use my imagination to create worlds. And not just illustrate, or doodle. So there's a lot of intellectual work behind the work. A lot of intellectual labor goes into my visions, into the work.

Additionally, I use very special inks. I use very subtle inks. I don't use Higgins, actually I use Higgins but rarely because this ink is very assertive, very strong, and thick ink.

I don't like thick ink.

Also the paper I use is very special. I don't use any kind of paper to draw on, I use only very special paper that is very responsive to the painting, and is absolutely an ideal match. So, the technique. The ideas. And the materials are a perfect match.

no beast is more savage than man when possessed with power answerable to his rage. Plutarch by Mirena Rhee

Plutarch: Lives of the noble Grecians and Romans by Plutarch

download it here and have your text to voice app read it to you from plain text. My mac reads it to me and it’s nice, or there’s simple app called Voice ( for Android ) which also does a pretty good job, and others too:
http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/674

So I have been listening to Plutarch about the lives of the most prominent Greeks and Romans and was astonished to find out that most of these people were mass murderers., not really great people but a bunch of violent dumbass fond of wrestling and spears. So far no respite from large armies and battles. I'm about to go into Demosthenes which is a bit reassuring because he battled with words.

Actually just about to be done with Cicero and, still, found out that even the wise men were stirring violence and committed violent acts on account of gaining power.

So, read Plutarch: Lives of the noble Grecians and Romans instead of reading newspapers which now that they have been satisfied bloodthirsty on death and disease have started counting the unemployed. The internet has become so saturated with b******* that now even my goto weather app shows the numbers of dead and sick people in between the humidity, chances of rain and wind speed, they somehow managed to include the numbers of the sick and the dead. I realized the internet has become gross because of greed and ads, and all kinds of corporate speak which ambushes us from every corner. I have resorted to reading two of my favorite sites only - Wikipedia and project Gutenberg. I don't think there is anything on the internet worth reading other than possibly also LibriVox, archive.org and of course, all the piracy sites.

Have your life measured up to the greatest heroes of mankind and see what you come up with. So far I am winning as I have never killed a man.

p.s. I was about to lecture you about handbags, but, boy, I realized that we as humanity have come a really long way from being truly savage so I guess the handbag is a small price to pay.

It is May 1st and the Fear Propaganda is in full force, and the people who don’t do anything continue to do nothing but this time with masks by Mirena Rhee

The fear propaganda ambushes as at every corner, The Fear Propaganda Graces every Corner of the Internet and The People Who Don’t Do Anything grace every page.

It has come to my attention that in this country which was built by people who did everything, people who don't do anything are worshipped. I recently saw Gwyneth Paltrow pose with a mask on a plane so a person that doesn't do anything just sits on a chair and has a piece of cloth over their face is being worshipped as something when it is totally nothing.

Pray, I do not “follow” anyone that doesn’t do anything and you are better off “following” or whatever on social media the street sweepers of New York city and the garbage men who continue to collect our trash and sweep our streets despite the whole world going inside.

How come the people who don’t do anything are everywhere, and we never hear of science, of teachers, of poets, of inventors, of engineers, of artists.

Because entertainment companies which are in charge of the media of course have it in their best interest to promote entertainers and have all people sit in their chairs and do nothing, and watch the people who don’t do anything do nothing either..

The role models have become people who don't do anything and who don't think for themselves but for the corporations and boardrooms and brands they represent.

But our country is not a circus, entertainment has its place but it has to be on the sidelines.

The proliferation of masks is of course a health thing, but don't allow a virus to define your identity as a human being so don't pose to be cute with a mask. If everything you have in your life is a virus then you don't have a life. So go find the life and just put a piece of cloth over your mouth so you don't sneeze on people.

Man's heart has been corrupted into settling for cheap things. Death is cheap.

Death Entertainment by Mirena Rhee

I want to talk about a grave subject. Life is a Life and Death. Death is a Life and Death.

Death is not Entertainment. Death is not Entertaining. It has become extremely clear to us all it is not fun to die. We cover up, we stay home. We fear. Now that every Hollywood Director’s dream has become a reality. Remember all the disaster movies, all the zombies, all the falling and explosions and buildings blowing up, all the shootings and gratuitous violence has come to haunt us like a shadow. If that Hollywood Director comes to New York they will not need a set.

We have stopped going to the movies to experience great things, we stopped reading and imagining great things, we stopped dreaming but for the long sleep.

The Media, The Newspapers, The Entertainment Companies have taken it upon themselves to entertain us with death to death.

In what perversion of the Universe

A gun is displayed proudly, death and dismemberment, but penis and breasts are obscene and everyone covers their eyes like they are some sort of exploding meat packs.

In what version of moral and social contract the taking of life is celebrated from every headline, every other film, movie, talkie, radio program, article, song but the making of life is stickered with black bandaids like black holes.

I am okay with sex, it’s great. it should be in every movie and we should be having it on every corner, but I am not okay with guns, dismemberment and violence.

I’ll tell you why death watching is popular.

Death makes money both for the people who make the guns and for those who make the Death Entertainment

It is the sickness of our civilization. The virus of violence.

The easiest thing is to destroy and deliver death but to build and to make is very difficult. A life could be taken in 5 seconds. Life took billions and billions of years to make. We used to be just soup for billions of years.

Destruction is very easy - a tower can come down in minutes that took years to build. A life would go out in three second but took… the entire Universe to make life. Remember Mr Zorg from the 5th Element - destruction makes excitement, makes a shuffle - a glass falls and breaks and now a dozen robots have jobs.

We should not be entertaining ourselves with death, we should be sharpening our teeth for great things as a civilization

But we have so few role models. So very few people make it their life’s work to create great things. Because it is very very difficult to create great things. You have to think of great things first. You have to dream them up.

Yeah, there are many accomplished and smart people on Earth, there are great businesses, people build empires - but there are very few visionaries, because you have to develop the vision in your mind first and then make it. It takes an enormous effort to be a creator of that caliber. It is just much easier to shuffle things. Or worse, destroy. So in the Media the Entertainment Companies’ defense - there isn’t much to talk about.

When I want to think of great things - I have a few masters I look up to - they are mostly dead: Michelangelo, Leonardo, Steve Jobs ( to some degree ) and the great master Salvador Dali. When I think of my contemporaries there’s only one man I look up to: Elon Musk.

Yeah, there are a lot and smarter people than Elon Musk out there but most of them are in academia and you cannot make great things when you haven’t put everything you have got on the line.

To create great things you have to put everything on the line. If you haven’t put everything you've got on the line you have nothing on the line.

And then you have to put everything you have behind what you believe in. I believe Elon does.

Put everything you have got behind what you believe in and I will believe you.

This is why it is difficult to create, to dream big - it takes a lot of resources, mental and material. And it takes great resources to dream up big things. So we fall back to what is easy - get buzzed on Death Entertainment. There is a reddit subreddit called Watch People Die. I have never been to it but know of it. It is easy to watch people and things go away, it is so much harder to build - you have to fight all the known laws and physics of the Universe. Including gravity when you get out of bed.

Here is how I wanna die.

I wanna be the first artist on Mars and wanna die with my eyes facing the stars.

But until then I am gonna create and make everything there is for me to create and make.

We are not lacking causes to live for.

The first step is to educate ourselves. I love entertainment, but I’d love more to be educated and enlightened. Here is something that will immediately educate you in great many subjects so you can pick something to fight for or stand for. The brightest minds of mankind answer this one question.

I stole it from a great man’s website - hope I will be forgiven, I just copied all the answers and put them on this little page: Edge.org - WHAT SCIENTIFIC TERM OR CONCEPT OUGHT TO BE MORE WIDELY KNOWN
