Silicon Valley is built on communication and relationships, not GPUs by Mirena Rhee

One of the special things of startups, and Silicon Valley, is that self-motivation mode of operation. You will find it in any company in Silicon Valley. No manager could tell you what you need to do, you will need to figure out what you need to do and go do it. There are usually very few written processes because things move very fast and information gets old fast too. Your first task is to improve the way you deal with people.

This has nothing to do with manipulating people but most of the jobs in Silicon Valley are communication. Although an engineer doesn't necessarily talk about it they usually have to comment out their code, write down requirements, work with other engineers to figure out who's going to do what, etc. So people may not be talking at all in the office but they will be communicating through the private channels that they have carved out.

Many people think that Silicon Valley is about computer chips and GPUs, no it's about interpersonal skills and communication.

So I think the main skill you need to learn here is how to relate to people and convey information in this type of environment. Oftentimes is the subtle skill of paying attention to people, being friendly, and being a people person. I'd start there.

People are not going to open up professionally until they get to know you.

In Europe people's relationships revolve around friends and family. In America we have to successfully deal with strangers, and this has been expertly perfected in the Silicon Valley.

Make it your business to learn to relate to the people you need to work with.

I always laugh when people start talking about GPUs, nah man Silicon Valley is built on communication and interpersonal relationships.

One of the reasons that Silicon Valley has successfully invented things is because people in the Bay Area are very nice and it's simply easier to work with nice people. None of this could easily happen on the East Coast, much harder.

This is my personal experience.

A Star Ship Day by Mirena Rhee

What a treat! Without Elon Musk we would be stuck watching the orscas, or maybe dribble, or whatever else idiots do these days. I was riding the subway and continued to rewatch Starship 3 flight and especially my favorite plasma sequence, the 33 raptors diamonds, the Starship space flips, the gridfins, I love the gridfins flapping around and etc wonderful things. I don’t know why this is not streamed on Times Square so we can all cheer on. I cried, got goosebumps, cried again and was very happy and changed my wretched mood from the last few months. Right before New Years I had to work with absolute degenerates, the scum and the bottom of the earth and was very depressed because I also realized I hate my family from the bottom of my heart and am totally fine with never seeing none of the scum again. Yes I forgave but never forgot. Very difficult time for me right around the holidays. Starship, SpaceX and Elon are the comforts, a big motivation and a big inspiration for my life. I realize that they are the reason NASA was energized out of its depression too. So we live on for the amazing things that will happen in the future.

Michael Moore was booed at the Oscars for condemning the invasion of Iraq, go fuck yourself with your statuettes, lol by Mirena Rhee

A bunch of clowns, every dog cat and a parrot on YouTube, and every idiot in their mom's basement acts. This has proven that the acting profession is a total idiocy for people who don't do anything.

On the other hand, I watched on Japanese television a Japanese man bow to their garbage man, and send their garbage people thank you letters. I think we should celebrate the street cleaners and the garbage people who keep our cities clean, and of course make sure to visit the Reddit piracy subreddit for fun.

The high art of Japanese interiors in Shogun by Mirena Rhee

If there is high art - this is it.

I'm not going to discuss brutality here, and to be quite honest brutality does tarnish the beauty of art, I do not approve of it and it disgusts me. But because this is a television show I'm not going to give it the credibility to deserve some sort of philosophical discussion.

I'm also not going to discuss certain things that I've read about, certain problems that Japan has now in modernity as well as in the past. This is going to be a simple post about what I get high on, looking at it I get an adrenaline rush and tears in my eyes. I get very very emotional which is completely irrational and magical.

From the first moment I laid my eyes on Japanese gardens in a book 30 years ago I was madly in love with something that I cannot explain, that is just only from Japan. The most beautiful rooms I've ever been in in my life are rooms in Japan.

This is the beauty that in my mind I imagine as the perfect most high art in interior decoration. If I were to design the perfect room in some perfect world where I'd like to dwell, this is pretty much it.

The above screens are from the most recent show Shogun.

After seeing this the word couch sounds obscene.

I imagine working on a smooth wooden floor with a big fat brush.
